PURE EV has unveiled what it calls India’s most affordable electric motorcycle, the EcoDryft. The new e-bike was designed and developed at PURE EV’s manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India. The bike has a top speed of 75km/h and a range of 130km on a single charge.
The EcoDryft comes in four color variants – blue, red, black, and grey. The EcoDryft is priced at Rs. 99,999 ($1,227) exclusively for New Delhi residents. The bike is priced elsewhere in the subcontinent at Rs. 114,999 (~$1,411). The actual on-road price will vary depending on the state subsidies applicable and RTO fees. The PURE EV EcoDryft will also berth in other markets beginning with South Asia.
The company is expanding its dealer network across India. PURE EV also plans to extend its reach to the Middle East and Africa.
The EcoDryft has a drive train powered by a 3kW electric motor. The bike also features Bluetooth connectivity, and a digital instrument cluster. PURE EV says it had deployed demonstration versions of the EcoDryft across its dealerships nationwide for test drives. The feedback from the customers has been phenomenal, according to the company. Bookings for the new electric motorcycle are now open while the first deliveries will be made in March.
PURE EV hopes to leverage from the huge two-wheeler EV market in India that is on its ascendency. It says commute motorcycles make up the bulk of India’s two-wheeler sales. The EcoDryf is expected to have a great reception among Indian consumers.
