Samsung recently launched its Galaxy S23 series of smartphones. The top-end model brings many changes under the hood, such as improved software, camera and user experience. According to a recent claim, the Galaxy S23 Ultra could raise the bar for Samsung’s already-recognized production of some of the greatest smartphone displays on the market. According to the report, the S23 Ultra’s display will use less energy than the most recent iPhone.

Given that it manufactures the majority of the AMOLED panels used in smartphones, Samsung has earned a reputation as a display expert. On the smartphone, the increase in battery life was fantastic. When it comes to screen-on-time, it can compete with the iPhone 14 Pro/Max. Software optimization was one of the factors that contributed to the improvement. According to a report by @dylan raga, another factor in the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s long battery life may be the materials that Samsung chose to make the AMOLED display.

Although the blue pixels on the S23 Ultra screen still appear to be made of M11 materials rather than M12 materials, the source claims that there is “a divergence in the individual emitters.” Therefore, classifying the display of the S23 Ultra as an M11 is not as simple. All of this translates into a highly energy-efficient Galaxy S23 Ultra display, even more so than the screen used by the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is made of M12 materials.

Compared to M12-based panels, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s display appears to have larger green emissions. It also seems to employ brand-new red light emitters. And even though it uses blue light emitters based on M11, it uses less energy than the iPhone 14 Pro Max display while maintaining a similar brightness level. See how the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S22+, and iPhone 14 Pro Max compare in the graph below.

Considering all these factors, Samsung has done really fantastic job. Even though the Galaxy S23 Ultra did not have any major upgrades in terms of hardware, these small upgrades, when paired with their optimized software were enough to give the user a next-level experience. So that was all we had to cover up regarding the battery life and its connection with the display of Galaxy S23 Ultra. What are your thoughts on this?
