The Nothing Phone (1) was launched in July last year. It shipped with Android 12 OS out of the box. Now the Carl Pei-helmed company is officially rolling out an Android 13-based Nothing OS 1.5 update for the Phone (1) users. The latest software version packs a host of new features and improvements. Read on to know more details about it below.

The Nothing OS 1.5 update based on Android 13 is rolling out to all users. Phone (1) users can simply go to Settings and under the General tab scroll to the Software Update section. They can then select the ‘Download and install’ button. The Android 13-based Nothing OS 1.5 update weighs 1.25GB in size. Before updating to the latest OS, users are advised to back up their data, connect their phone to WiFi for a reliable connection, and ensure that the device has a sufficient battery.

The Android 13-based Nothing OS 1.5 brings a new weather app and changes to the camera user interface. There are new customisations including Glyph ringtones, notification sounds, and more Material You custom colour schemes. The software version also offers lock screen shortcut customisations for the camera, torch, device control, and wallet. There are also visual upgrades like a new media control interface, new volume controls, live captions, and smoother animations.

Nothing says that the Nothing OS 1.5 version brings a 50 percent increase in app loading speed, quick network settings panel, and closing active background apps from the notification centre. The update introduces a new QR code scanner in the quick settings and camera app to make it more accessible. Lastly, the latest software version comes with a personal safety app and a new ‘self repair feature’ to have the phone optimise its own memory consumption.
