The Nothing Phone (1) was announced way back in 2022. The company has started rolling out the Nothing OS 2.5.5 for the device. It brings various new features and also improvements and bug fixes. If you’re unaware, the London-based brand also started seeding the same update to the Phone (2) and Phone 2 (a) earlier this month. 

Nothing Phone (1) gets ChatGPT integration and more with the latest update

The Nothing Phone (1) is now receiving a Nothing OS 2.5.5 update that includes the May 2024 Android security patch. It is rolled out in a phased manner meaning it should take some time to hit all units. Users can download it manually by heading to Settings > System > System Update and it download and install if it’s available. 

The headline feature of the Nothing OS 2.5.5 is the ChatGPT integration. The ChatGPT widget on the home screen allows easier and faster access to the AI chatbot. There is a new gesture option in the Nothing X app that lets the recently launched Ear (a) and Ear users to start a conversation with ChatGPT. This feature will be available on more audio products, the company confirmed. The latest update also introduces a button on the screenshot and clipboard pop-up to directly paste content in ChatGPT. 

The Phone (1) also gets a RAM Booster that can be enabled in Settings > System > RAM booster. This will ensure that the phone runs smoothly. Users also get the option to apply the Nothing Pack icon only to the home screen. There’s an option to scroll through pages on the home screen and hold app icons while reorganizing. The icons within the status bar can now be customized. 

The Nothing OS 2.5.5 for Phone (1) integrates an AI-powered algorithm for smarter lighting adjustments for auto-brightness. Quick Settings tiles are reordered for improved accessibility and widgets also get new animations. The update also fixes disconnecting WiFi issue, earbud volume not syncing with phone volume, vibration feedback, and a screenshot problem.
