Xiaomi Group President and Redmi General Manager, Lu Weibing, posted on his Chinese social media Weibo recently, announcing that the company is serious about bringing the flagship-level performance and smartphone experience to a wider and more price-conscious audience.

Alongside the announcement, the President also shared that the Redmi Note 12 Turbo series will bring much beloved features such as the 3.5mm headphone jack, the infrared IR sensor, multifunctional NFC support, and support for the latest Bluetooth 5.3. These user beloved features are typically omitted in flagships that cost almost 5 times as much as the price range that the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is competing. Other notable additions include Dolby Atmos certified stereo speakers and an X-axis linear vibration motor normally found on more expensive smartphones.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is also the world’s first smartphone to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor, which brings significant improvements to performance and power consumption compared to its predecessor the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. In fact, the 7+ Gen 2 is comparable to the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC launched last year.
