5G was launched in India in October last year. Airtel and Jio started rolling out the latest generation cellular network in the same month. Both telcos continue to expand their 5G circle across the country. However, apart from Airtel and Jio, Vodafone Idea (Vi) is the only private telecom yet to roll out 5G services in India.

Now Vi and Xiaomi India has announced a strategic partnership to provide 5G connectivity on the latter’s smartphones once the 5G services are launched by the operator. Eighteen devices under the Xiaomi and Redmi portfolio are said to be extensively tested on Vi 5G network in New Delhi. The company said that the phones will support the network post-FOTA updates. Once Vi launches 5G commercially, Xiaomi and Redmi smartphone users will just have to toggle their network connectivity settings from 4G to 5G.

Here’s a list of 18 Xiaomi and Redmi devices to support Vi 5G:

  1. Xiaomi 13 Pro
  2. Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G
  3. Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G

Previously, Vi had partnered with Motorola for 5G support on several phones from the Lenovo-owned brand. It’s likely that the telecom operator will soon roll out services in the coming weeks.
