JDI and Chinese Company HKC Join Forces to Develop Next-Generation OLED Technology

JDI, primarily known for its LCD panels, has recently delved into the OLED market. This partnership signifies its commitment to advancing OLED technology and expanding its presence in this growing industry. The alliance will involve not only OLED technology but also semiconductor fabs, global innovation and industrialization centers, and high-end automotive display businesses.

The companies plan to jointly build a semiconductor fab using JDI’s eLEAP OLED technology, targeting mass production by 2025. This next-generation OLED technology employs mask-less deposition and photolithography, resulting in a doubled peak brightness and a threefold increase in lifespan compared to previous technologies.

The ambitious partnership aims to dominate various display panel sectors, including being the top global wearable device shipment and market share by 2027, the top global shipment and market share for VR, monitors, and automotive displays by 2028, and the third-largest global shipment and market share for notebook and tablet panels by 2028.

This collaboration between JDI and HKC showcases the potential for groundbreaking innovation and growth in the OLED market, as the two companies bring together their expertise and resources to create cutting-edge display technologies.
