The heads of both companies signed a memorandum of understanding in Asan, South Korea. However, no financial details were disclosed. Reports have claimed Samsung plans to invest more than 3 billion dollars in the manufacturing of OLED panels in Asan.

In recent years, Samsung has started manufacturing electronics parts for the automotive industry, with a focus on autonomous vehicles. The brand recently announced it will manufacture 5nm chips for Ambarella, which is a US-based edge AI fabless semiconductor company. Ambarella’s CV3-AD685 is a new semiconductor chip that is meant to be an AI controller for autonomous cars.

Additionally, the Korean behemoth has previously provided auto chips targeting demand for Volkswagen’s infotainment system developed by LG Electronics. It is an infotainment processor that can control up to four displays and 12 cameras at once.
