The OnePlus 11 is the company’s latest generation of flagship smartphone. Since then, the brand has unveiled a couple of affordable high end devices like the Ace 2 and Ace 2V, but there hasn’t been a true successor to the 11. Now, the latest leak has hinted at some interesting specs for the OnePlus 12 that is expected to launch next year.

OnePlus 12 to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 & new periscope cameras

The latest leak arrives from known tipster Digital Chat Station who shared the information on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). He claimed that the brand is currently testing a new periscope camera on an “SM8650” product. This model number in question reportedly refers to Qualcomm’s next gen flagship grade chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. While the leak doesn’t specifically hint at the smartphone being the OnePlus 12 model, it is highly likely to be this device considering the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that powered OnePlus 11.

Furthermore, the leak further adds that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be announced sometime around the end of this year. In other words, it is likely that the OnePlus 12 will feature this high end processor. Apart from this, another tipster Max Jambor stated that the Chinese smartphone maker is also planning on bringing various upgrades to the camera on its upcoming 2024 flagship smartphone. This includes the testing of the new periscope lens.

With the addition of the new and improved periscope lens, the OnePlus 12 will be capable of offering better zoom functionality. For those unaware, this camera can usually be found in most flagship grade devices like the Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra.
