This move comes in response to a recent incident involving sensitive information leaks through the utilization of third-party AI tools. The company later banned the use of any third-party AI tools like ChatGPT and Google Bard.

Having experienced the potential risks associated with external AI platforms, Samsung is taking proactive measures to safeguard its proprietary data and intellectual property. The forthcoming in-house AI assistant, developed in collaboration with Naver, will address the unique requirements and challenges faced by Samsung employees within the Device Solutions Division.
Unlike its predecessor, this AI platform will remain within Samsung’s secure servers, ensuring that sensitive semiconductor-related information and proprietary code remain confidential and protected from unauthorized access. By sharing select semiconductor data with Naver, Samsung can leverage the power of generative AI without compromising security or risking unintended leaks into the public cloud space.
One notable advantage of this collaboration is the platform’s enhanced understanding of the Korean language. By tailoring the AI chatbot to comprehend and respond to Korean more accurately than any existing generative AI tool, Samsung aims to provide its employees with a seamless and intuitive user experience.
Initially intended for employees within the Device Solutions Division, the in-house AI platform will undergo rigorous field testing to ensure optimal performance and compatibility. Upon successful evaluation, the tool may gradually expand its availability to other Samsung branches, including the Device eXperience division, responsible for smartphones, home appliances, and more.
