Oppo introduced the Oppo Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro in China in August 2022. It seems that the time is nearing for the Watch 3 lineup to be succeeded by its upcoming iteration. According to a recent Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, Oppo’s upcoming flagship smartwatch will likely bypass the Oppo Watch 4 name. The notion that the number 4 brings bad luck in China and some other Asian nations probably have an impact on this choice. Instead, it seems that the forthcoming iteration will be introduced as the Oppo Watch 5. Here is a look at the first details of the smartwatch.

OPPO Watch 5 Pro key details

According to the tipster, the Oppo Watch 5 is codenamed “Comet,” and it has a square display with curved edges. It will have a 570mAh battery and come with support for eSIM connectivity. He added that the smartwatch will come in white and black carbon fibre shades.

To recall, the Oppo Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro are equipped with a 400mAh and a 550mAh battery, respectively. Hence, it appears that the tipster could be talking about the Oppo Watch 5 Pro and not the vanilla model.

The Oppo Watch 5 series is likely to go official alongside the Oppo Find N3 foldable phone. A previous Weibo post from the tipster revealed that the company plans to launch the Find N3 in the third quarter of this year.
