Apple enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the unveiling of iPadOS 17, and this year’s update has not disappointed so far. Building on the foundation set by iOS 17, iPadOS 17 was unveiled at WWDC 2023, and it introduces a set of exciting changes that are intended to enhance the iPad experience.

The new update brought Interactive Widgets, Live Activities & More

One of the standout features is the interactive widgets. Gone are the days of simply viewing information at a glance. Now, users can interact with widgets, such as playing music directly from the Music widget or completing reminders without launching the respective apps. The lock screen has also undergone a redesign, following in the footsteps of its iPhone counterpart. Users can now customize their lock screen by adding widgets, assigning focus modes to specific wallpapers, and even changing the fonts of the clock and text.

Furthermore, Live Activities are making their way to the iPad, enabling real-time updates from apps directly on the lock screen. Users can effortlessly track sports scores and look at other updates on the lockscreen without even needing to open any apps.

In another major move, Apple has brought the Health app to the iPad for the first time. This app seamlessly syncs data from the Health app on iPhones and Apple Watches, while also offering standalone functionality for those without other compatible devices. The Notes app is also receiving a notable upgrade with the introduction of PDF support. Users can now annotate PDFs directly within the app, making it a more versatile tool.

iPadOS 17 also contains upgrades to existing features. Stage Manager, a standout feature of iPadOS 16, is receiving updates that provide users with more flexibility when arranging windows. Additionally, users can utilize the camera of an external monitor during video calls when the iPad is connected, further expanding the device’s functionality.
