Sigmund Judge, from Screentimes, shared insights from insiders involved in the show’s production, revealing that “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” will be filmed in Apple’s Spatial Video format, introduced during WWDC. This format enables the transmission and playback of stereoscopic 3D video, specifically designed for headsets and other compatible devices.

“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is a live-action series ordered by Apple in January 2022, set in a world where Godzilla, King Kong and Titans exist, revolving around the organization called The Monarchs. As a spin-off from Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse franchise, the show’s release is expected to coincide with the launch of the Vision Pro headset.

While it remains uncertain which platform the series will exclusively air on, it is likely to be available on Apple’s own streaming service, Apple TV. However, considering that Apple’s format also supports 2D viewing, it is possible that the show will be accessible through standard streaming methods, while also being tuned for playback on the Vision Pro.

With the announcement of the Vision Pro and the prospect of original 3D content like “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” Apple is venturing into the immersive entertainment landscape, offering users a unique and captivating viewing experience. Tech consumers are eagerly anticipating the release of both the headset and the accompanying content, which will mark a significant milestone in Apple‘s expanding product portfolio.
