Aligning with Material Design 3: WhatsApp’s Style Refresh
Although this change is appreciated by many users, some still hope for a new type of dark theme on Android, similar to the one available on WhatsApp for iOS. This would involve a darker theme with grayscale and black colors, particularly suitable for devices with AMOLED screens, providing improved performance and aesthetics. However, there is no evidence yet to suggest additional enhancements beyond the darker top app bar.
WhatsApp is actively working on developing and refining this feature.
