As scheduled, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 12 series in India. The lineup consists of Redmi 12 and Redmi 12 5G.

The 4G model is already official in multiple international markets. Whereas, the 5G variant has made its global debut in India.

Anyways, the Redmi 12 5G is not a brand-new smartphone either. It originally goes by Redmi Note 12R in China.

Let’s check out what these handsets have to offer along with their pricing and availability.

Redmi 12 Series Specifications

Both Redmi 12 and Redmi 12 5G feature a similar design and build. They sport a glass back panel and a plastic frame.

Even their specs are almost identical. The only major difference between the two is their chipsets.

Under the hood, the 4G variant houses a MediaTek Helio G88 SoC paired with eMMC storage. On the other hand, the 5G version nests a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip paired with UFS 2.2 storage. Both come with LPDDR4x RAM.

They arrive with a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP macro snapper, and an 8MP selfie camera. The 4G model also has an additional 8MP ultra-wide unit.

Other features include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, a MicroSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an IR blaster.

Lastly, they boot MIUI 14 based on Android 13 and draw energy from a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W charging.
