Lamborghini is giving a sneak peek of something exciting, releasing a teaser image of a new vehicle set to be unveiled on August 18. In a recent Instagram post, the Italian carmaker has promised that “Something new and truly thrilling is about to be unveiled.”

The teaser, however, doesn’t reveal any other key details of the vehicle

This announcement comes on the heels of the company’s statement that it would present an electric vehicle (EV) concept during Monterey Car Week. As August 18 falls within that period, it seems clear that this debut could be our first glimpse at Lamborghini’s new EV.

The teaser offers an intriguing view of the car’s outline. Its smooth lines and softer edges contrast sharply with the more angular elements that Lamborghini is known for. These design features may suggest a blend of the brand’s classic style with shapes often found in EVs, helping to reduce drag.

Previously described as the “first prototype of our fourth series production car,” this EV concept is something Lamborghini fans have been eagerly waiting for. In July 2023, the company confirmed plans for a 2+2 grand tourer. CEO Stephan Winkelmann emphasized that this vehicle would be “much more daily usable,” a departure from models like the Huracan or new Revuelto, and notably, not an SUV.

The teaser doesn’t give away too much about the vehicle’s size or specific design. Key details, such as whether it will have rear seats like the anticipated production version, remain under wraps.

Mechanically, the EV shares components with other vehicles within the Volkswagen Group. This isn’t a new approach for Lamborghini, as seen with the Urus sharing a platform with the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, and Porsche Cayenne.

Interestingly, Lamborghini hasn’t produced a 2+2 grand tourer since models like the 400 GT 2+2, Islero, Urraco, and Espada were retired in the late 1970s.
