Oppo seems to be working on two new A series smartphones. The Oppo A38 and A18 were recently spotted on TDRA. Now, the former has bagged Malaysia’s SIRIM and Indonesia’s NBTC certification, hinting we might soon get a new mid-ranger. Both listings don’t reveal anything interesting but we do know a thing or two based on the moniker.

OPPO A38 smartphone appeared on Malaysia’s SIRIM certification website with the model number, CPH2579. The handset with the same model number was spotted on the NBTC website. Previous listings have revealed the device will support 4G connectivity with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It will run ColorOS 13.1 based on Android 13 out of the box.

It could pack a 4880mAh battery, which is likely to be marketed as 5000mAh. Oppo A38 is expected to be a budget smartphone with just enough specifications. Currently, there’s no official confirmation from the brand but we can expect the device to launch in the coming months.

Judging by the name, Oppo A38 will be the successor to last year’s Oppo 36. That device debuted as a budget offering with a Snapdragon 680 SoC under the hood. It sports a 6.56-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1612 x 720 pixels (HD+), a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. Fueling the smartphone is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging.

It features a dual camera setup on the rear that consists of 13 MP (wide) + 2 MP (depth). For clicking selfies, you get a single 8MP shooter. Oppo A38 might feature some improvements over its predecessor. So, you may see a better camera setup and probably a new chipset.
