AYN Technologies has dropped the curtain on the Odin 2 gaming handheld, revealing both its release date and an array of specifications. This new device, slated to follow in the footsteps of the Snapdragon 845-powered Odin, showcases a significant upgrade, sporting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
The Odin 2 doesn’t cut corners on memory and storage either as it comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. Display-wise, the Odin 2 offers a 6-inch IPS display with a crisp 1080p resolution, delivering vibrant visuals for an immersive gaming experience. The device also comes prepared for connectivity, featuring Micro HDMI and USB 3.1 Type-C ports, allowing easy connections to external displays and accessories.
In terms of design, the Odin 2 strikes a balance between portability and functionality, with dimensions measuring 225 x 98 x 17 mm and a weight of 420 g. An active cooling solution ensures the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and its Adreno 740 iGPU can operate efficiently without overheating.
Perhaps the most appealing aspect is the pricing strategy. The Odin 2 will debut at a competitive $299, eventually settling at $339 (after the early bird period is over). This base model, available in black, includes 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. For those seeking more RAM and storage, there are two alternatives: the Odin 2 Pro, featuring 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage for $369 Early Bird and $439 Retail, and the Odin 2 Max, with a substantial 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB storage, available for $449 Early Bird and $499 Retail. The brand has scheduled the Odin 2’s launch on Indiegogo for August 22 at 12:00 UTC.
