Apple is gearing up for its Wonderlust fall event that is scheduled to take place tomorrow. The company is expected to announce the next-generation flagship iPhones, smartwatches, and more. The Apple Watch Series 9 will arrive as the successor to the last year’s Watch Series 8. We will also reportedly get the second-generation Watch Ultra. Key details about the upcoming wearable devices have surfaced in the past. Now Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared more information on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2.

Leak reveals new details of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2

Previously, it was reported that the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 will be powered by the new S9 processor that is touted to offer significant performance upgrades compared to the current-generation Watch Series 8. The upcoming offering is said to be the first time since the Series 6 to deliver massive performance improvement.

In a new development, Gurman reports that the Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 will feature the new U2 ultrawide-band chip. Apple has been using the U1 chip on all smartwatch models since it was launched in 2019. The new U2 chip will bring improvements to the Find My capabilities. It will likely offer precise location tracking and better power efficiency. Additionally, the iPhone 15 series is also expected to feature the new U2 ultrawide band chip.

Apple’s Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 are also tipped to come with various other sensors and internal component upgrades. The smartwatches will also adopt Apple’s new optical heart rate sensor for better accuracy. The upcoming offerings will reportedly feature recycled material more than before with Apple reportedly testing 3D-printed cases for the Watch Series 9’s stainless steel models. Speculations are rife that the company may shift away from some of its leather watch bands and it might update or discontinue its stainless steel link bracelets
