Honor has not too long ago introduced the Magic 5 series smartphones, but the company is rumored to be already working on their successor. Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has spilled some beans about the upcoming Honor Magic 6 Pro.
The tipster suggests that there is a version of the Honor Magic 6 Pro engineering machine with a “centered pill hole” display. This will be a departure from the Magic 5 Pro‘s left-aligned pill-shaped cutout. However, the device still has a 3D face recognition sensor, while the other sensor in the pill-shaped cutout will be used as a front-facing camera.
In addition, the tipster claims that the MagicOS 8.0, Honor’s upcoming UI based on Android 14, has also been adapted to support the centered pill-shaped display and it will likely have a feature similar to the iPhone’s dynamic island style. Apart from this, not much is known about the device as of now. The Honor Magic 6 Pro is expected to be officially launched in 2023, but there is currently no specific release date.
Besides the Magic 6 Pro, Honor’s new MagicOS 8.0 system is also worth paying attention to. It is reported that the new MagicOS 8.0 system will be released alongside the Honor 100 series.
According to reports, Honor MagicOS 8.0 will feature a self-developed microkernel that is said to enhance fluency and reduce power consumption.
A microkernel is the core of an operating system, and it is responsible for managing the most basic tasks of the system, such as memory management and process scheduling. By developing its own microkernel, Honor can better optimize the performance and security of the MagicOS 8.0 system.
