Rumors of a foldable iPhone have been around for years, but there is no proof that Apple is making one. However, YouTuber Lewis Hilsenteger (aka Unbox Therapy) recently posted a video of what seemed like a foldable iPhone prototype. The device had a triple rear camera bump like the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, and it folded in half like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

But on closer inspection, it was clear that the device was not a real Apple product. It’s a feature phone styled to look like a clamshell iPhone. The hinge was also low-quality, and the “cover display” was only about the same size as the camera island. This is in stark contrast to foldable Android phones, which have much larger cover displays.

It is possible that the device Hilsenteger received was a mockup created by a third-party company. However, it is also possible that it was just a hoax. So, is there any chance that Apple is actually working on a foldable iPhone?

It is possible, but there is no evidence to support it. However, the company has reportedly filed patents for the foldable screen tech and or screen protection for foldable iPhones / iPads.

If Apple is working on a foldable iPhone, it is likely to be at least a few years away from release. In the meantime, Android manufacturers have been churning out foldable phones at a rapid pace. Samsung’s latest foldables are the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, and other companies like Motorola and Oppo have also released new folding phones. It remains to be seen if Apple will ever release a foldable iPhone, but for now, it’s just a rumor.
