For so many years, the peripherals market, especially in the charger category, has been led by Apple, since their products are all cutting-edge and tend to change every year, accessory companies have no choice but to go with the flow. When GaN tech came out, it could support phones and other tech products with more juice and could do it faster. Ugreen, as one of the most well-known electronics brands, has a wide range of GaN charger products in their lineup, they are either awesome high-power multi-port chargers or single-port chargers. They can not only meet the needs of Apple products, but also support other phones, or devices like gaming laptops or tablets.

If you have followed our channel long enough, you will know that we love Ugreen products, we have covered their 100W charger, PowerRoam 1200W Power Station, they are the main helpers for powering our products in the studio or the equipment for our outdoor shooting, they are very reliable.

Ugreen Nexode RG 30W&65W

Nonetheless, what if I tell you that Ugreen has some new chargers that add a little fun to the experience? Here we have the Ugreen Nexode RG 30W and 65W chargers, RG stands for Robotic GaN I think, they are so cute by the way!

Design

So the chargers in the market are pretty much the same shape and wattage, it’s kind of boring to have them on the desk to be honest. The RG chargers are like a robot wearing headphones all the time, when you commend it to do its real job, it takes off the shoes and gets to work! When you need to go out with them, please, let them have their shoes back first.

The shoes are magnetic, so you can put them somewhere that they can stick to, a very thoughtful design. overall I really like them a lot! Although the ones we have here are more blackish, surprisingly there is a purple version in the collection, that one is even cuter, it has a ponytail at the back, for girls out there, you will definitely love it!

While they are working, they also talk to you with different faces on this LED screen, for instance, they will have smiley eyes when it’s not charging any device, but there will be a smiley face when it’s charging. After it’s done with charging, smiley eyes again! Whenever you look down there after long hours of work, they look at you with happy faces, what a pleasant experience.

How they work

Let’s talk about how it works in charging your devices.

First, this RG 30W charger, as you can see there is a single USB-C port on it, and it has a 30W max output, after connecting to the tester, we can see that it supports many charging protocols, I have put them on the screen so you can read.

This is very rare to see so many protocols on such a small charger. So theoretically, it can power most of the phones out there, we tested it on Xiaomi 13, the maximum power output is 25w, and it takes 30mins to charge it to 50%,

and it takes 25mins to charge iPhone 14 to 50% by 25W. We also tested it on the Macbook Air M1 chip version, the maximum output is 30w, and it takes 42mins to charge from 0 to 50%, definitely a good choice for Apple fanboy. However, due to private charging protocol restrictions, it only achieved 10W on Oneplus Ace 2, and 17W Huawei Nova 11 pro.

For the RG 65W charger, there are three ports here, two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, clearly it’s more of a charger that sits on the desk often, or if you travel with your laptop and phones every day, you can still take it out with you, it’s fairly light by the way. The charging protocols supported are almost the same as the 30W charger, but it achieved higher voltage on PD and PPS protocols.

Experience

We tested them on those phones also, and they can distribute power very well, with no heat issue at all. if you have multiple devices to charge, and you don’t want to read the long list of how to distribute power between each port, then you can simply follow this rule: from top to bottom, larger output to lower output.

Verdict: Not Just a Look

So based on the tests, these two chargers are more than capable of charging most of the devices at home for some light users, the compact sizes will not take up much space in your desk or your backpack.

Moreover, the cute shapes and emoji faces are very attractive decorations. If you are interested in these two little charging bricks, you can check out:
