Portronics has released a new magnetic wireless charger in India called the Zyron. It is a Qi2-certified charger designed to work as both a car mount and a desktop charging stand. The device has an MRP of Rs. 3,499 ($37), but it is currently selling for a promotional price of Rs. 1,549 ($16).
Portronics Zyron Specifications
The Zyron is essentially a compact, black circular charging pad that attaches magnetically to the back of a phone. For use in a car, it comes with an air vent mount. The mounting hardware uses a hook mechanism that latches onto the slats of a standard car AC vent.
You assemble it by fitting a nut over the vent hook, pushing the charger onto a ball joint, and tightening it to lock the angle in place. This ball joint lets you adjust the phone’s position for GPS navigation or music controls while driving.
Instead of just being a car mount, the Zyron also comes with a separate stand attachment in the box. If you don’t want to leave the charger in the car, you can detach the magnetic pad from the vent mount and slot it into this desk stand. This props the phone up vertically on a desk or table so you can see the screen while it charges at the office or at home.
On the technical side, the charger uses the Qi2 standard and supports up to 25W of wireless power output. However, Portronics specifies that the Zyron is only compatible with Apple devices, specifically the iPhone 12 through the iPhone 17 series. The company explicitly says on the packaging that it is not recommended for other phones that support wireless charging.
To get the maximum charging speed, you need to plug the charger into a 30W or higher USB-C power adapter. Portronics includes a one-meter USB-C to USB-C cable in the box, but you have to provide your own power brick.
Availability
The Portronics Zyron is available now on the company’s website, Amazon India, Flipkart, and in physical retail stores, and it includes a one-year warranty.
