Honor recently made a comeback in the Indian market. It returned to the region and unveiled the new Honor 90 smartphone model (check out our review here). But apart from just launching new handsets, it appears that the company is also looking to expand its production in the country as well.

Htech brings smartphone production in Q1 2024

In an interview with the Economic Times, Madhav Sheth, the CEO of HTech, talked about the company’s business strategy for the local market. He also revealed that the company is currently discussing the possibility of bringing in local contract manufacturers to begin production of its smartphones in India. Apparently, it is in talks with three such manufacturers at the moment.

The senior executive further added that the brand is planning on starting production of these Honor phones in the country by the first quarter of next year. Madhav Sheth has also confirmed that Honor has already invested 400 crore INR towards setting up operations and distributions in India. As of right now, the Honor 90 leads the wave for a fresh lineup of Honor branded smartphones. So there are more models that are planned to launch in the region.

During the festive season, the company is targeting to hit sales figures of over 50,000 units for the Honor 90 from both offline and online channels. Additionally, it is planning 60 crore INR worth of offers for the festive sales season. The local smartphone production confirms that the brand is also joining the Make in India initiative.
