Amazon has unveiled the Astro for Business security robot in the US. The new Amazon security robot is coming after Amazon also piloted a security robot for homes. The new Amazon security robot comes in a cute design and is capable of patrolling the customer’s business effectively. Amazon is also offering a subscription service as added support for the robot.
Features
Amazon Astro for Business robot can move around autonomously or can be controlled remotely. It is equipped with an HD periscope camera with night vision capability. The robot also offers two-way communication and a 24-hour live viewing of the patrol environment. The Amazon subscription service for Astro for Business is available in three layers of subscription.
The Astro is designed to help companies monitor their facilities and the Virtual Security Guard subscription enables the robot to notify Ring’s Rapid Response agents if an unfamiliar person, strange sound, or suspicious activity is detected. The Ring Protect Pro and Astro Secure subscriptions provide the needed resources to access the Virtual Security Guard.
The Ring Protect Pro allows the user to save the recorded content for up to 180 days. It will also sync the robot with Ring motion sensors and alarms. Astro Secure service allows the robot to patrol autonomously through user-customized routes. The robot can also send alerts to the user and move autonomously to any triggered sensor to check what’s going on.
Pricing & Availability
The Amazon Virtual Security Guard subscription is $99 per month, while the Ring Protect Pro and Astro Secure subscriptions cost $20 and $60 a month respectively. As for the robot itself, Amazon is yet to provide the price optics for the Astro for Business. To put in perspective, the Astro for Home is available as an Invite-only model at $1,599. The Astro for Business however comes with greater functionality than the Home model.
