While we were already aware of Vivo’s collaboration with MediaTek on the Dimensity 9300 particularly in the field of AI, a recent report by CNMO suggests that the company is also actively involved in the development of the upcoming Dimensity 9400. Industry insiders have highlighted that Vivo’s influence within MediaTek allows it to stay ahead in the market by incorporating cutting-edge flagship chips into its products.

Vivo’s Strategic Role in Advancing MediaTek’s Dimensity Series

MediaTek Dimensity

The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is a flagship 5G AI mobile chip manufactured using a TSMC’s 4nm process with 22.7 billion transistors. It integrates 1B and 7B AI language models and a 1B AI vision model directly into devices. This integration enhances data security, improves real-time performance, and enables personalized user experiences by keeping sensitive data on the device and tailoring AI functions to individual preferences.

The collaboration between Vivo and MediaTek centers around MediaTek’s flagship AI processor APU and the AI development platform NeuroPilot, which greatly improves the operational efficiency of AI models on devices, providing powerful and efficient AI experiences. Vivo’s smartphones, notably the Vivo X100 series benefit substantially from this tech, positioning them as leaders in on-device AI models.

The partnership has been mutually beneficial, with Vivo’s X90 series being the first to feature the Dimensity 9200 processor globally, garnering significant user attention. This trend continued with the Vivo X100 series. Moreover, the Dimensity 8200 mid-range chip was launched worldwide through Vivo’s iQOO brand with the iQOO Neo 7 SE model.

Additionally, MediaTek is also working with OPPO on AI integration into their chips, highlighting the industry’s focus on advanced AI capabilities in smartphones.
