Google is enhancing its Messages app with animated emoji reactions, adding a touch of vibrancy and expressiveness to conversations. The feature was first discovered in the beta version of Google Messages by AssembleDebug.

Reacting to messages using animated emojis is simple. Just long-press on a message and select the desired emoji. The chosen emoji will then appear above the message accompanied by a delightful animation that adds a playful element to the interaction.

This new addition to Google Messages goes beyond simply enhancing communication; it also reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to improve the messaging experience and promote the adoption of Rich Communication Services (RCS).

RCS offers a range of features, including read receipts, typing indicators, and group chats with over ten people, making it a more comprehensive messaging solution compared to traditional SMS.

Apple’s recent decision to support RCS marks a significant breakthrough in the messaging landscape. With RCS support, Google Messages will soon be able to send RCS messages to iPhones, further solidifying its position as a preferred choice for users.
