Leica, the renowned German camera manufacturer, has unveiled a new limited-edition model of its ZM 1 watch, the ZM 1 Gold Limited Edition. This exquisite timepiece pays homage to the IA Luxus, a revered Leica camera released in 1929 that featured a striking gold and black color scheme.
Limited to just 50 pieces, the ZM 1 Gold LE is a collector’s dream, crafted for Leica’s devoted clientele. It has the same functionality as the original ZM 1, but with a different case and dial colorway.
Leica ZM 1 Gold Limited Edition Overview
The ZM 1 is a 41mm watch that houses a custom movement from Lehmann Präzision, offering time, date, a power reserve indicator, and a special function for controlling whether you’re winding the power reserve or setting the time.
The watch has a red-capped button set into the crown at three that controls a special function. When you press the button, the movement stops, the seconds display snaps to zero, and you can turn the crown to set the time.
Likewise, the pusher above the crown advances the date, and there is a small aperture that is white when the watch is in winding mode (running) or red when the watch is in setting mode. In another camera-inspired flourish, the ZM 1 has a power reserve that opens from the center, mimicking the blades of a camera shutter.
The crown and pusher set are made of titanium, and the ZM 1 Gold LE comes on a brown alligator with a matching 18k rose gold case with titanium pushers. The ZM 1 Gold LE is priced at $28,000.
