The affected Lenovo power bank was sold in multiple markets including the US when it was released. The issue with the power bank is that the internal screws of the device may become loose, which can lead to possible short circuit and overheating of the lithium-ion battery. Lithium-ion batteries are integral parts of many electronic devices but they also come with fire risks. The battery can react violently with air, generating much heat that can cause fires.

The scale of the recall of the Lenovo USB-C Laptop Power Bank has not been specified by Lenovo. Users who have such a power bank are requested to have a look at their devices and stop their use immediately. Lenovo requests owners of the specified power bank to enter the serial number of the device, and if established, request for a replacement. They will have to send a clear and legible photo of the label, as well as provide shipping and their contact information.

Furthermore, the old power bank must be disposed of by the extant regulations in the locality. Lenovo advised that the old device must be disposed of at a facility that accepts lithium batteries in a manner that complies with all applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations and guidelines relating to the safe disposal of lithium batteries. Lenovo has provided a list of contacts for customers across North America, Latin America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. More information about the recall can be obtained from the Lenovo website.
