In August and September, Huawei unveiled the Mate 60 series of flagship phones without any fanfare. Hence, it was not clear whether the company would hold a launch event for the upcoming Nova 12 series. The company took to Weibo today to confirm that the Nova 12 series will be announced at 12 pm (local time) on Dec. 26.

Huawei Nova 12 series’ design revealed

The Huawei Nova 12 series’ teaser video showcases the signature blue variant, which is said to be the No. 12 color. The lineup is expected to include models, such as the Nova 12 Lite, the Nova 12, the Nova 12 Pro, and the Nova 12 Ultra.

Rumors surrounding the Nova 12 series claim that the Nova 12 Lite (or Vitality Edition) will have a 60-megapixel selfie camera, a 50-megapixel main camera on the back, and an OLED panel integrated with a fingerprint sensor. It is said that apart from blue, it will also come in white and black. It is unclear whether it will be a 4G or 5G device.

The Nova 12 is said to be a 4G phone powered by the Snapdragon 778G 4G chipset. It is also expected to support 66W fast charging.

The Nova 12 Pro and 12 Ultra will be 5G-enabled devices that may come equipped with the Kirin 9000s. It is the same chip that is present under the hood of the Mate 60 lineup. There is a possibility that the Ultra variant may come with support for two-way satellite communications support.

Both models are expected to feature a curved-edge OLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution and supports 100W charging. For selfies, both phones may feature a pair of 60-megapixel dual selfie cameras. Their rear camera setup may include a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom support.
