Chinese smartphone manufacturers are in the process of developing foldable phones that are lighter in weight. Presently, the Honor Magic V2 holds the title as the lightest horizontally foldable smartphone in the Chinese market, weighing 231 grams. There are indications that the upcoming Vivo X Fold 3, set to launch in Q1 this year, could potentially claim the title of the lightest foldable phone.

Alleged Vivo X Fold 3’s dimensions revealed

Reports have revealed that Vivo is soon going to hold a launch to announce at least three devices, such as the Vivo X100s, the Vivo Pad 3 tablet, and the Vivo X Fold 3 series. The latter is expected to include the X Fold 3 featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and the X Fold 3 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

According to a recent Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, a forthcoming foldable smartphone is expected to have dimensions of 5mm when unfolded and 10.5mm when folded. Additionally, the post suggests that the device will weigh between 220 grams and 229 grams, with the exact weight falling within this range, estimated at 22x grams.

DCS has previously claimed that the Vivo X Fold 3 will be a thin and lightweight device. Hence, the tipster could be talking about the said device (not the Pro model) in the latest leak.

As per a recent revelation by the same tipster, the Vivo X Fold 3 is anticipated to omit certain features present in the Pro model. These exclusions reportedly include the absence of a periscope telephoto camera, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and wireless charging on the standard X Fold 3 variant. Hence, it appears that the X Fold 3, which is expected to carry an affordable price tag, may end up being the lightest foldable phone.
