Recently, OnePlus apologized and confirmed that the OnePlus 12R uses the UFS 3.1 storage system on all variants. However, it was too late for this revelation as interested consumers had already ordered their units. Now, OnePlus President and COO Kinder Liu has confirmed that the company is offering a full refund to the OnePlus 12R owners in case they are not satisfied with the UFS 3.1.

OnePlus 12R owners can claim a full refund after the UFS saga

To recap, the OnePlus 12R comes in 128GB and 256GB storage variants. Only the 16GB + 256GB RAM and storage configuration was advertised to feature a UFS 4.0 storage system. It packs faster read/write speeds, faster performance, and app loading speeds compared to the UFS 3.1.

In an official community forum post, Liu has revealed that those who purchased the OnePlus 12R 256GB model are eligible for a full refund if they are not satisfied. Owners need to contact the customer service teams who are said to be fully briefed on the situation. The process could be pretty straightforward. However, it’s worth noting that the refund time window is limited and valid until March 16.

The OnePlus 12R is a mid-range flagship with some impressive specifications. It has a 6.7-inch BOE X1-supplied OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, 4,500 nits peak brightness, and a 120Hz LTPO 4.0 refresh rate. There is a triple rear camera setup headlined by a 50MP main sensor. Internally, the smartphone is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 coupled with up to 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. The device draws its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 100W fast charging.
