Samsung has begun distributing samples of its 256GB SD Express microSD memory card, boasting an impressive sequential read speed of up to 800MB/s.

Samsung also kicks off mass production of 1TB UHS-1 microSD memory card

Hangu Sohn, the global vice president of Samsung Electronics Brand Storage Division, emphasized the significance of these advancements, stating that the new microSD cards deliver SSD-level performance and expansive capacity within an incredibly compact form factor. This leap in technology enables users to harness the power of cutting-edge applications both now and in the future.

The introduction of Samsung’s SD Express microSD memory card marks a significant stride in memory card evolution. While traditional microSD cards typically utilize the UHS-1 interface with a maximum read speed of 104MB/s, the SD Express series raises the bar with speeds reaching up to 985MB/s. This exponential increase in data transfer rates promises a transformative computing experience across various platforms.

Powered by the PCIe Gen3x1 protocol, SD Express unleashes blistering speeds that rival even SATA SSDs, boasting a read speed of 800MB/s. This represents a 1.4-fold improvement over traditional SSDs and over four times the speed of conventional UHS-1 interface memory cards. Samsung’s Dynamic Thermal Guard technology ensures optimal performance and reliability by regulating the memory card’s temperature, even during prolonged usage.

In addition to its high-performance capabilities, Samsung’s 1TB UHS-1 microSD memory card pushes the boundaries of storage capacity. Utilizing eight layers of Samsung’s 8th generation 1Tb V-NAND, this microSD card delivers unparalleled storage potential. Furthermore, it undergoes rigorous testing to ensure durability, boasting six protective features including water resistance, extreme temperature resistance, drop resistance, wear resistance, X-ray protection, and anti-magnetic protection.
