Qualcomm is expected to unveil a new flagship-grade chip bearing the SM8635 model number this month. The rumor mill is tentatively calling the chip the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. It is speculated that upcoming smartphones, such as the Xiaomi Civi 4, Redmi Note 13 Turbo, Realme GT Neo 6, Vivo Pad 3 tablet, and an upcoming iQOO Neo 9 series phone, will come equipped with the said chip. Today, tipster Digital Chat Station leaked the display specifications and rear camera details of the forthcoming Neo 9 series phone.
iQOO Neo 9 Racing Edition key specifications (rumored)
In December 2023, iQOO announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered iQOO Neo 9 and the Neo 9 Pro with the Dimensity 9300 chip in China. The predecessor Neo 8 series included two models, such as the Neo 8 and Neo 8 Pro. However, the Neo 7 series, which was released in 2022, featured the Neo 7 equipped with the Dimensity 9000+, the Neo 7 Racing Edition with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and the Neo 7 SE with the Dimensity 8200.
If rumors swirling on Weibo are to be believed, iQOO may bring back the Racing Edition model in the Neo 9 series. If the rumors swirling on Weibo are to be believed, the forthcoming Neo-branded iQOO phone could be dubbed the iQOO Neo 9 Racing Edition.
It can be said based on DCS’ latest Weibo post that the iQOO Neo 9 Racing Edition could be equipped with a 6.78-inch flat OLED LTPO display that produces a 1.5K resolution (2800 x 1260 pixels). The screen will also offer up to a 144Hz refresh rate and 2160Hz PWM dimming. On the back, the device will have a dual-camera system headlined by a 50-megapixel camera, and it will lack a plastic bracket. Likely, some of its specifications could be identical to those of the iQOO Neo 9.
The tipster has previously claimed that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3-powered will offer 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device will be equipped with a plastic frame and pack a large battery with 120W fast charging. As far as the launch is concerned, the device is expected to break cover in April in the home market. It is unclear whether the device will be released on the global market.
