Apple introduced the A17 Pro processor on the iPhone 15 Pro models. It outperformed Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Cupertino-based tech giant is working on the A18 Pro chipset for its next-generation iPhone 16 Pro devices. Now, a Weibo user has shared two images revealing different Geekbench scores which give us an idea of how much performance change there could be between the upcoming A18 Pro and the A17 Pro.

Alleged A18 Pro Geekbench scores hint at massive performance gains

In the first Weibo post which is now deleted, the alleged A18 Pro scores 3,570 and 9,310 points in Geekbench 6’s single-core and multi-core test results which is 22 and 28 percent faster compared to the A17 Pro. In the Geekbench 5’s same single-core and multi-core test results, the A18 Pro records 2,571 and 7,359 points which translate to 20 and 38 percent respective inccrease in performance over the A17 Pro.

Now, coming to the second post of the A18 Pro’s benchmark, the results are somewhat closer to the A17 Pro. The forthcoming chipset scored 2,822 and 8,571 points in Geekbench 6 and 2,517 and 7,359 points in the benchmarking platform’s single-core and multi-core test results.

The Weibo user who shared the benchmarking scores says that the final performance remains to be seen. This is because Apple and other companies allow their chipsets to run at max potential. The OEMs then work on achieving a balance between performance and power efficiency. Apple’s A18 Pro is expected to be based on TSMC’s 3nm process. It is rumoured to comprise two high-powered CPU cores and six low-powered cores.
