Sony China has expanded its audio lineup by introducing the SRS-XB100 portable wireless speaker, now available for pre-order at 399 yuan ($55). Official sales are set to start on April 1st on JD.com, with the speaker offered in four colors: Black, Grey, Orange, and Blue. Initially launched in India in July last year, the speaker is now making its way to the Chinese market.

Coming to the specs, this lightweight and compact speaker with a cylindrical design weighs only 274g and features a detachable double suspension strap for easy carrying. The bottom boasts an anti-skid silicone design for stability when placed vertically.

On the audio side, the speaker is equipped with a full-range speaker and a passive radiator for clear sound and strong bass. Sony’s unique DSP technology expands the low-frequency response range for enhanced bass. The speaker also features a Sound Diffusion Processor for wider sound dispersion.

Sony equips the SRS-XB100 with Bluetooth 5.3 for seamless wireless connectivity and extended battery life. It’s IP67 dust and water-resistant, making it suitable for outdoor use.

The speaker is claimed to offer up to 16 hours of playback on a single charge, ensuring you can keep the music going all day long. Additionally, the speaker supports USB-C charging for a convenient power supply.

For those who like to manage their music from their smartphones, the SRS-XB100 is compatible with the Sony Music Center app. This app allows you to control playback, adjust sound settings, and even customize the speaker’s illumination. The speaker can also be paired with another SRS-XB100 unit for stereo sound.

Beyond music playback, the SRS-XB100 also boasts a built-in microphone for hands-free calling. The speaker utilizes echo cancellation technology to ensure clear audio during calls, even in noisy environments.

Sony has kept sustainability in mind with the SRS-XB100. The speaker’s body and strap are partially made from recycled plastic materials, and the packaging is entirely plastic-free.
