Apple is about to drop support for many old generation iPads starting with iPadOS 18. Back in February, rumors surfaced suggesting that the iPadOS 18 won’t come to the A10X Fusion-based iPads. It implied that the first generation 10.5-inch iPad Pro from 2017 and the second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro won’t get the iPadOS 18 update. Although, the tweet was quickly deleted.

Now, 9to5Mac has spotted a recent rumor reiterating this matter. claiming that the 6th generation iPad, 2nd generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and the first generation 10.5-inch iPad Pro will indeed not receive the iPadOS 18 update.

Aside from the devices mentioned above, iPadOS 18 will be coming to the same devices as iPadOS 17. The 7th generation iPad from 2019 is powered by the A10 Fusion processor and will reportedly get the iPadOS 18 update.

iPadOS 18 will be coming to these devices:

  • iPad: 2019 and later
  • iPad mini: 2019 and later
  • iPad Air: 2019 and later
  • iPad Pro 2018 and later

Speaking of iOS 18, however, here are no odds. iOS 18 will support all the same devices as iOS 17.
