Earlier today, Huawei unveiled the Pura 70 series of smartphones in China without much fanfare. The products were expected to go official today as the company had already teased about them a few days back while announcing the new branding.

Huawei selected April 18 to debut the Pura 70 lineup as today marks the 12th anniversary of Ascend P1, the first phone in the series.

The Pura 70 family consists of four devices: a standard model, two pro variants, and an ultra version. All of them were sold out as soon as they went on sale across online and offline channels.

The GizmoChina review team was fortunate enough to grab the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra on the first day of sale. We purchased the top-end 16GB + 1TB variant in Starburst Black color, which retails at ¥10,999 (~$1,520).

It has been only a few hours since we got our hands on the device. But still, we have an unboxing video ready for you to enjoy.

That’s because, due to high demand, Huawei mandates customers to unbox and register their new purchases at stores. This way the company is minimizing the scalping of its phones.

Our Huawei Pura 70 Ultra unboxing video can be watched on YouTube as well as Instagram.

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is different from the Huawei P60 Art in many ways. It not only comes with a revamped design but also upgraded specs. We are excited to experience the smartphone thoroughly for review.

You can learn more about the device in our launch coverage. If you are interested in knowing more about the new Kirin 9010 chip powering it, you can read about it here.
