The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was announced at the Snapdragon Summit on October 25, 2023. Xiaomi announced its flagship Xiaomi 14 series the next day in the home country and it was made available within a couple of days. Now the latest news from tipster Yogesh Brar claims that Xiaomi will again offer the next generation flagship chip from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 before anyone else.

The tipster notes that Xiaomi still has the exclusive first launch rights for the Snapdragon flagship chip. It is followed by OnePlus and iQOO. It means that the Xiaomi 15 series could be the first to offer the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. The next two phones, according to the information, should be the OnePlus 13 and the iQOO 13 respectively.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could be a bit different

However, if you live in the US, you’ll still have to wait until January or February for the next Galaxy flagship to experience the next Oryon CPU-powered Snapdragon flagship. They may also continue to add certain changes in the clock speeds and the ‘for Galaxy’ branding just like the past two years.

Speaking of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, Qualcomm CMO Don McGuire has confirmed that the chipset will also be unveiled in October at the Snapdragon Summit 2024. Another key piece of information he shared about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is its adoption of Qualcomm’s custom-made Oryon CPU core.

While the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is already capable enough to handle pretty much everything you through at it, the 8 Gen 4 is going to be the first to boast the new custom core from Qualcomm. The Oryon CPU cores in the Snapdragon X Elite CPU are reportedly outperforming most of the desktop processors both in terms of raw computing power and power efficiency. Nonetheless, that’s Windows-on-Arm, a completely different platform and the comparison is also with the desktop CPUs. We will have to see how it performs on next-generation Android flagships.
