Xiaomi has released its latest smart camera in the Chinese market, specifically designed for parents with the “Baby Care Edition.” This new device offers a comprehensive monitoring solution with intelligent features, prioritizing both peace of mind and privacy.

The camera boasts cry, cough, and sound detection, alerting parents to potential issues immediately. Additionally, users can set up virtual “play areas” within the Mi Home app, receiving notifications when their baby enters or leaves these designated zones.
For added security, the camera features two operation modes: local and online. Local mode prioritizes privacy, directly connecting the monitor to the camera without internet access, ensuring images never touch the cloud. Online mode allows remote viewing via the Mi Home app, perfect for checking on your baby while you’re away.
The 5-inch screen displays a clear 720p HD image with night vision, while the camera itself captures in 2880 x 1620 resolution. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz/5GHz) and offers three storage options: microSD card, NAS transfer, and cloud storage (paid subscription required). The device come with a 10-hour long battery life.
Xiaomi emphasizes privacy throughout the design. The camera angle can only be adjusted manually, preventing accidental online manipulation. Users can also set specific areas within the Mi Home app that won’t be recorded, ensuring sensitive parts of the home remain private.
Beyond monitoring, the “Baby Care Edition” camera also captures special moments. AI algorithms automatically record smiles and generate fun memory videos, helping parents cherish their baby’s growth.
For added safety, the camera has a sturdy stand design and a manual angle adjustment feature to avoid accidental remote adjustments, enhancing privacy and security. Xiaomi’s “Baby Care Edition” smart camera was up for crowdfunding last month and it is now finally up for sale on JD.com at a price of 769 Yuan ($106).
