According to previous reports, Samsung was testing different aspect ratios for the external screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. There were also rumors that the upcoming book-style foldable will offer a wider screen with sharp corners. A leaked render of the device also showed a relatively boxier design with sharp corners. Now renowned tipster Ice Universe has shared an image comparing the screen protectors of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Z Fold 5.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 early screen protector shows wider screen with sharp corners

Samsung’s book-style foldable phones have offered a super tall outer display so far. Recent alternatives to the Galaxy foldable from brands like Google or Oppo have offered reasonably wider external displays, which made it easy to stick to the external screen for simpler tasks. Samsung has also tweaked the aspect ratio over time, but they are still very similar and the external screen is significantly narrower than a mainstream bar phone. But it may finally change with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The image Ice Universe has shared shows the difference in the aspect ratio and corner radius between the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and its predecessor. The upcoming book-style foldable will offer an external display that is 60.2mm wide, as compared to the 57.4mm of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. While it’s still not the same as a mainstream bar phone, it seems that using the phone in the folded position will be relatively easier this time.

Aside from the wider aspect ratio, the early screen protector of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 also has a much more sharp corner radius. The corner radius is not quite as sharp as the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but it’s close.

We are nearly two months away from the launch of the 6th generation Galaxy foldables and the design should have been finalized at this point. Given the screen protector represents the Galaxy Z Fold 6, we should see a noticeably wider screen this time around.
