Oppo has a launch event scheduled for May 23, 2024, where the brand plans to debut the Reno 12 series smartphones. At the event, the brand will most likely be launching two smartphones: Reno 12, and Reno 12 Pro. If you’re interested in watching the event live, here’s how you can tune in.

Oppo will be broadcasting the launch event live on the popular Chinese microblogging platform Weibo (Link). The event will kick off at 16:00 China Standard Time (UTC+08). It is worth noting that you might need a VPN connection if Weibo is blocked in your region.

Display: Both the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro are expected to have large OLED displays around 6.7 inches. The Pro model might boast a slightly higher resolution (FHD+ vs 1.5K) and a smoother refresh rate (120Hz vs standard).

Processor: The Reno 12 Pro is rumored to come with a more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Star Speed Edition chip, while the Reno 12 might settle for the Dimensity 8250.

RAM and Storage: Both phones could offer up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, though the Pro version might have an additional 16GB RAM and 1TB storage option.

Cameras: The star of the show seems to be the 50MP main camera with Sony IMX890 sensor and OIS, expected on both models. They might also share an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom. The Pro version adds a 50MP front camera, while the standard Reno 12 details are yet to be confirmed.

Battery: Both phones are expected to pack a large 5000mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.

Other Features: An in-screen fingerprint scanner, ColorOS 14 based on Android 14, and an IP rating for dust and water resistance are likely on both models. The Reno 12 might add an IR blaster.
