Intel‘s Sapphire Rapids-Refresh processors are picking up steam. These CPUs have been certified by Ubuntu, guaranteeing compatibility with a whole different operating system. The news gets better: Lenovo‘s upcoming ThinkStation P5 workstation is equipped with a Xeon W7-2595X processor, confirming customer shipments of these Sapphire Rapids-Refresh processors have begun.
The CPU boasts 26 cores and 52 threads, with a max turbo frequency of 4.8GHz
The Xeon W7-2595X CPU in the ThinkStation P5 boasts impressive specs: 26 cores, 52 threads, a maximum turbo frequency of 4.8GHz, and a 250W TDP. While this processor reigns supreme as the flagship of the Xeon W-2500 series, even more powerful options with up to 60 cores are on the horizon with the upcoming Xeon W-3500 series.

The ThinkStation P5 comes equipped with an NVIDIA T400 GPU in its base configuration, but users have the option to upgrade to dual RTX A6000 (Ampere) graphics cards for even more power. Future iterations of the ThinkStation P5 are expected to leverage the next-generation ADA series graphics cards.
An official release date for Sapphire Rapids-Refresh processors remains elusive, but SIGGRAPH 2024 (July 28-August 1), a computer graphics conference, is a strong possibility for Intel to officially unveil these new workstation products.
