China has taken a significant leap in high-end equipment manufacturing with the official release of HIPEX1850, the country’s first super-large thermal isostatic pressure (HIP) equipment. Developed by China Steel Research Technology Group Co., Ltd., HIPEX1850 is currently the largest HIP equipment in China and the second largest globally.
HIP tech helps process giant core components for aerospace sectors
This milestone achievement signifies major advancements in China’s HIP technology across various aspects: equipment size, processing parameters, modular design, intelligent control, equipment stability, and more.

HIP technology plays a crucial role in processing large core components critical to China’s aerospace and other high-tech sectors. Lu Zhoujin, chairman of Steel Research Haopu Technology Co., Ltd., explains that the HIP process creates exceptionally uniform and high-density materials. It eliminates internal defects like micropores, cracks, and segregation, leading to significant improvements in wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and overall mechanical properties. Notably, fatigue life of materials processed with HIP can be enhanced by 10 to 100 times.
Hot isostatic pressing is an indispensable technology for manufacturing key components in various high-end fields such as aerospace, electric power, gas turbines, consumer electronics, healthcare, semiconductors, and more. HIPEX1850 positions China as a leader in developing strategic new materials and core components, fostering self-reliance in these critical areas.
