Huawei‘s much-anticipated Nova 13 series smartphone launch has been pushed back, according to reliable industry tipster Digital Chat Station. The series, which was initially slated for an August debut, will now not be making an appearance.
Instead, the Chinese tech giant is gearing up to unveil a Nova-branded flip phone in its stead. While details about this new device remain scarce, the Nova line’s reputation for offering high-end features at competitive prices suggests a similar approach for the upcoming flip phone.

As for the delayed Nova 13 series, whispers hint at a few interesting specs. The Pro and Ultra models are rumored to feature satellite connectivity, a feature that has gained traction in recent times. Powering these devices could be the same flagship Kirin 9010 SoC that drives the recently launched Huawei Pura 70 series.
The Nova 13 series might also inherit the XMAGE camera branding currently found on Huawei’s Pura and Mate flagships. The series is also tipped to offer improved selfie photography with dual front-facing cameras.
Moving on to the display, leaks suggest a flat screen for the standard Nova 13, while the remaining models might sport a slightly curved design. All devices are rumored to offer a 1.5K resolution display, a comfortable middle ground between Full HD and Quad HD.
The Nova 13 series is also expected to come pre-installed with the HarmonyOS Next operating system. The rear camera system is said to include variable aperture technology for the main camera, with a periscope telephoto lens likely reserved for the higher-tier models. Although these details are unconfirmed, they suggest a potentially feature-rich mid-range offering.
While the delay in the Nova 13 series launch is undoubtedly disappointing for fans, the prospect of a Huawei-branded flip phone adds an intriguing dimension to the company’s smartphone portfolio. We will keep you updated on any new developments regarding these smartphones.
