Motorola is actively developing new smartphones that will be released in 2025. The Gizmochina team recently spotted a new device codenamed “Houston”. This codename matches the name of Texas and the most populous city in the southern United States, implying that the smartphone codenamed “Houston” may go on sale primarily in the American market. However, Motorola plans to sell the device in other parts of the world.

Motorola is planning an affordable smartphone codenamed “Houston” for launch in 2025. This is in line with their strategy to offer budget-friendly options for a variety of users. We can reveal four model numbers associated with Houston: XT2517-V, XT2517-1, XT2517-2, and XT2517-3. The “XT25” prefix confirms the 2025 launch and solidifies Houston’s place on Motorola’s upcoming roadmap.

Speculation suggests that the Houston smartphone will be a priority for the US market. Indeed, Motorola has a history of adapting certain models to specific regions to meet local market demands and preferences. However, the presence of multiple model numbers suggests that it will be officially introduced in many countries. As a result, the new smartphone will also be available for purchase by users outside the US.

While it’s too early to announce an exact release date, the anticipation for the new smartphone is growing. Given the model number system, the device will almost certainly be released in 2025.
