OnePlus recently confirmed that it will unveil the OnePlus 13 on Oct. 31. Apart from confirming the design and display of the device, the brand has not revealed much else about it. Now that Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 13 will feature the new chip.

OnePlus 13 to feature Snapdragon 8 Elite chip

OnePlus China President Louis Lee announced that the company will hold a special event on Oct. 23 at 10am (local time) in China to discuss the performance of the OnePlus 13. This event marks the debut of the OnePlus 13’s performance and showcases the capabilities of the newly released Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Lee said that the Snapdragon 8 Elite features a significant upgrade in performance and energy efficiency. The OnePlus 13, which has been fine-tuned in collaboration with Qualcomm, is expected to be one of the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship phones. He also revealed that the OnePlus 13 will feature exclusive proprietary performance technologies, providing an unparalleled gaming experience.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite, built on TSMC’s 3nm process, features a second-generation Oryon CPU with two super cores at 4.32GHz and six performance cores. This new architecture, designed specifically for mobile devices, offers a 45% improvement in energy efficiency over the first generation.

The OnePlus 13, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition, will feature up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0. Likely, it will be the industry’s first Android flagship with such large memory. To maximize the chip’s performance, the ColorOS 15 team has introduced a new chip-level solution called Tidal Engine.
