Samsung is reportedly developing two rugged new additions to its Galaxy lineup: the Galaxy Xcover 8 Pro smartphone and the Galaxy Tab Active 6 Pro tablet. Known for durable and reliable devices, Samsung’s Xcover and Tab Active series are designed to withstand harsh environments, meeting the needs of users in demanding settings such as fieldwork and industrial environments.
Galaxy Xcover 8 Pro
Samsung’s Xcover series has grown since its 2011 debut, with the Xcover 8 Pro expected to build on the lineup’s Pro variant, launched in 2020. The model number SM-G766B, assigned to the Xcover 8 Pro, fits Samsung’s naming sequence for these devices, following the previous Xcover 6 Pro (SM-G736B) and Xcover 7 (SM-G556B).

Set for release in mid-2025, the Xcover 8 Pro is likely to bring improvements in durability and performance, though specific details are yet to be confirmed.
Samsung’s Xcover line is renowned for its reinforced construction, water and dust resistance, and military-grade certifications, making it ideal for outdoor workers and rugged usage. While exact specs remain under wraps, the Xcover 8 Pro is likely to feature enhanced processing power, extended battery life, and possible 5G connectivity, aligning it with current rugged smartphone standards.
Galaxy Tab Active 6 Pro
Samsung’s rugged tablet line will also see a new release with the Galaxy Tab Active 6 Pro, expected to launch alongside the Xcover 8 Pro in mid-2025. This model, the successor to the Tab Active 5 that was released earlier this year, continues Samsung’s alternate release schedule between regular and Pro versions.

Known for features like IP68 dust and water resistance, MIL-STD-810 certification, and durable design, the Galaxy Tab Active series caters to industrial and fieldwork applications.
As with the Xcover 8 Pro, the Tab Active 6 Pro is anticipated to offer enhanced durability, improved screen technology, and a rugged battery with swappable options, as seen in previous models. With Samsung also including S Pen support in past Tab Active models, the Tab Active 6 Pro is expected to support productive features for on-the-go workers.
