A couple of days ago, Honor unveiled the Magic 7 Pro in China. It is among the latest batch of Chinese flagship smartphones and we recently compared it with the Xiaomi 15 Pro. So now, let’s pit it against the Vivo X200 Pro to see which one is better.

1. Design and Display

Both Honor and Vivo offer their high end devices with premium smartphones. The Vivo X200 Pro and Honor Magic 7 Pro are pretty similar with a glass back panel and a metallic frame. The duo also has a large circular camera island on the rear as well. However, the differences are more apparent on the front. One of the first things you notice when checking out the two phones is the pill shaped notch on the Magic 7 Pro. Meanwhile, the Vivo X200 Pro has a punch hole cutout.

The former has a 6.8-inch quad curved LTPO OLED display with 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 4320Hz PWM dimming, HDR10+ up to 5000 nits of peak brightness. On the other hand, the Vivo X200 Pro is a slightly smaller 6.78-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 4500 nits of peak brightness. So you’re not seeing any big difference between the two phones.

2. Specifications

Things get a bit more interesting when looking at the specs under the hood. Vivo was one of the first flagship devices to launch with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 SoC. But Honor went with Qualcomm and its new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. In our comparison, these two flagship chips were quite similar in terms of performance. Both models are available with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.

A massive 6,000mAh battery pack powers the Vivo X200 Pro, which supports 90W wired fast charging and 30W wireless fast charging. Honor’s Magic 7 Pro has a smaller 5,850mAh cell but with a faster 100W wired fast charging and 80W wireless fast charging.

3. Camera

Honor Magic 7 Pro

The X200 Pro series camera system includes a triple-lens rear setup featuring Zeiss optics and Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip. The primary camera is a 50MP Sony LYT818 main sensor, along with a 200MP Zeiss APO telephoto camera, and 50MP ultra wide angle lens. For selfies and video calls, there is a 32MP selfie shooter. Honor Magic 7 Pro has a 50MP main camera OmniVision OVH9000, along with a 50MP 122° ultra wide angle lens, and a 200MP Samsung S5KHP3 telephoto shooter. The front has a 50MP selfie camera with a ToF 3D sensor.

4. Pricing

Vivo has launched the X200 Pro with a starting price tag of 5,299 Yuan (roughly 750 US Dollars). This makes it more affordable than the Honor Magic 7 Pro, which starts from 5,699 Yuan (roughly 869 US Dollars). For 100 US Dollars cheaper, you get a larger battery and Dimensity 9400. So it can be a better deal for those looking for a sub 800 US Dollar flagship phone. But Honor has faster wireless charging, Snapdragon 8 Elite, and a ToF 3D depth/biometric sensor.
