Xiaomi has initiated the rollout of the stable Android 15 update for its flagship Xiaomi 14 smartphone in both global and European Economic Area (EEA) regions. That said, the update comes with a twist.

As we know, Xiaomi recently launched the Xiaomi 15 series smartphone, along with its HyperOS 2 operating system in China. However, the brand has yet to officially launch the new operating system in the global market. So Xiaomi is basically providing the Android 15 update with the HyperOS 1.1 overlay.

The update, identified by the build numbers OS1.1.4.0.VNCEUXM for Europe and OS1.1.3.0.VNCMIXM for global users, is currently being distributed to a select group of Mi Pilot users who participate in early access programs. This phased rollout allows Xiaomi to gather valuable user feedback and address any potential issues before a wider release.

Key Improvements in Android 15 for Xiaomi 14:

Home Screen:

  • Enhanced Folder Icon Display: Improved visibility and clarity of folder icons.
  • Optimized Layout: Addressed the issue of excessive blank space at the top of the screen, resulting in a more efficient and visually appealing layout.
  • Stability: Implemented fixes to prevent instances where the Home screen would unexpectedly cease to function.

Lock Screen:

  • Addressed Flickering Issue: Resolved the issue of screen flickering during adjustments to Always-on Display settings, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Recents Menu:

  • Smoother App Card Reordering: Improved the responsiveness and fluidity of app card reordering, eliminating any jarring animations.

Other Improvements:

  • Fixed Black Screenshot Issue: Addressed the problem of black screenshots in certain applications, ensuring accurate capture of content.

The Android 15 update for the Xiaomi 14 is available via OTA from the Experience Enhanced Beta, with a size of approximately 127MB for global users and 125MB for EEA users.

In related news, third-party sellers have begun offering the Xiaomi 15 smartphones internationally. Vendors such as Giztop have listed the device starting at $749, though the brand has not yet announced an official global launch date.
